Ellie and Logan's love story begins one hot August night…

My mom betrayed me in the worst way possible. I can't forgive her, but I can outwit her. I'm going to unravel the family secret she's been keeping from me my whole life. So I'm going to college across the state from her, to the place that has the answers. I hope. But I have to be careful or I'll blow everything. I can't tell anyone what I'm doing.

I didn't mean to fall in love. I can't afford to give my heart away or open up to anyone, least of all charming, rich, former bad boy baseball star Logan Walker. But he looked so adorable sitting there nursing a black eye the night I met him at my very first campus event. The way he held my hand made me flush in the suffocating heat of August and feel really beautiful for the first time in so long I can't remember. My scar didn't even hurt.

But Logan's moods are mercurial. He's keeping secrets of his own that are too dark to share, even with me. We agree to be just friends. But our hearts and bodies have minds of their own. Before I know it, I'm in too deep with him and the answer to the family secret I came to campus to find may be the thing that tears us apart.

Interview with the Author

Q – The Reckless Series of New Adult Romance is an interconnected series with your Rushed Series, what does that mean?

A –The Reckless Series is a trilogy of new adult contemporary romances that follow the same couple, Ellie and Logan, throughout. The Rushed Series books are standalone romances showcasing a different couple each book, with the featured couple from previous books continuing as minor characters in future books. The romances take place on the same university campus during the same school year as the Reckless Series. Many of the favorite Reckless Series characters make cameo appearances. What's even more fun is that the Rushed Series contemporary romances contain scenes that weren't shown in the Reckless books. They're told from the perspective of the Rushed Series characters so you get an outside view of the Reckless faves.

Q - What order should I read the books in?

A – You can read either series of women's new adult and college fiction first. That's totally up to you. The Reckless books should be read in order.

The Rushed books can be read in any order. If you do want to read the books in the series in order, I'd suggest the following sequence

For the Reckless Series

-Reckless Longing

-Reckless Secrets

-Reckless Together

For the Rushed Series

-Rushed

-Crushed

-Hushed

Hope you enjoy them all. And thanks for reading!

Reckless Longing A Contemporary College-set New Adult Romance (Reckless series Book 1) - edition by Gina Robinson. Literature & Fiction eBooks @ . Reviews

Reckless Longing is a great story, with so many 5 star parts. I loved Ellie and Logan, I loved the parts of their lives that they had to deal with, and I loved their romance. With just a few tweaks on small issues it could easily catapult to the next level.

The story and the romance This story was about Ellie and Logan, and the serious baggage weighing each them down individually. While the attraction they felt for each other was undeniable, they both knew that “right now” wasn’t a good time for a relationship…not until they sorted things out in their own lives first. However, they were so at ease with each other that it just felt so right. I wanted them to just go for it! The chemistry between Logan and Ellie was pretty tasty too, and I really can’t wait to see how it goes from this point. While they did have a few *a-hem* moments, I really feel like it was all a build up for the smexy reward we’ll get in book 2. ;

Pacing and Style This story was told only through Ellie’s eyes, so we never knew exactly what was going through Logan’s head, although we could guess most of the time based on his actions. So much of this story was told in a natural way, a way that had me slowly getting to know the characters, and I loved that. But then parts of the relationships were sped up based on one or two conversations and those parts seemed out of place (I will discuss that more later).

Title/Cover Both are just OK. As far as the title goes, I get the “longing” part, but not quite the “reckless” part. Neither one of these characters were reckless at all to me. Logan was definitely reckless a few years earlier, but it seemed like he was in total control of his actions when this story took place. As far as the cover goes, I don’t really think the guy seems very hot, it might be the angle, but I want to see a little scruff. He just looks too photo-shopped and airbrushed/waxy/plastic-y for me.

Twists, Turns, and Secrets Well, we knew there were secrets, but only were privvy to them a little bit at a time. I knew Ellie’s mom hadn’t treated her well, but didn’t know the extent of it for a while. (It was bad!!), and I knew something happened to Logan, but didn’t get all the details until later as well.

Ending One part ended in a happy place, but another part was definitely open-ended and I can’t wait to see what happens. Thank goodness for book 2!

What Made Me Love This Book I fell in love with this story because of Logan and Ellie, and their love that is so true and real. I just honestly liked them both so much alone and together. I also loved how each were so strong, even though they felt broken on the inside. They held their heads up no matter what, and just forged on, which made me respect them so much.

The parts that didn’t quite jive for me (WARNING! COULD BE A LITTLE BIT SPOILERY) Ok, so this part is going to lay out why the story isn’t quite a 5 star for me.

Austin She forgave him…just like that? After all the “heart break”? And he surprised her with a visit, it wasn’t like she had been planning on forgiving him. It just seemed like it came out of nowhere and it was hard to believe that she really made peace with it.
Logan’s Dad That part was tough. I didn’t like how Ellie told him off (she was really rude and it wasn’t her personality). It was like a light switch went off in his head which led him to apologize to Logan, and all was right in the world? No way would that have ever happened. And Logan just accepted the apology? My head was spinning from that section.
Jason Why didn’t Lyssa know? He seems like such a stand up kind of guy, yet is keeping this MASSIVE secret from his wife.
Mom Did Ellie really cut her off? I needed some closure with that relationship.
Dex He obviously likes her, this wasn’t addressed at all. Will it be? I love him though and hope he finds a girl to make him happy!

Final Thoughts/Rec it? YES, this is a great start to the series. I fell in love with these characters and really want to see them through to the end to make sure they get their HEA’s
The story was really good and I got into the characters. I was disappointed because the book left you hanging. In order to find out the rest you have to read the next book.
There is nothing worse than putting of house/yard work on one of your only days off, to read what you would think would be a wonderful romantic tale. Don't waste your time, the ending sucks!
This book was pretty cool. I liked that it had a bit of mystery to it and I must admit I was a tad intrigued. The blurb kind so set me so but I was caught by a quote which was the driving force to me reading this.

Though there was a kind of a puzzle to figure out, I totally figured out the entire plot within the first 15% which was disappointing. I was hoping for more and if not more, as in substance then more as in words. Like seriously she didn't need to stretch this book in to a series?? Jeez Louise, sometimes eh! But I digress.

Apart from the transparent plot and okayish characters (btw I'm in love with Dex!) I really enjoyed reading this it was light and nice. But sad to say I don't think I'll be reading the rest of books, I can't do that to myself.
This was not a bad book, but it really wasn’t great either. The story line was somewhat original except that it’s difficult to believe that two people who are keeping so many secrets from each other actually have any chance at a future. I also basically ends in a cliffhanger so if you are a person against them you should probably skip this one.
I did quite enjoy this story, but the ending was very annoying. I hate when authors drag out story lines for the sake of more books. This could have be a great standalone romance. My feeling on the storyline is that there Is just not enough guts in this story for 3 books and I won't be buying the rest.
â…“ of the way thru and I may not be able to make myself finish.

*Spoilers*

Even though he’s only mentioned once in her mom’s diary, she’s so sure he’s her dad that she transferred schools to meet him. She calls him dad in her head, calls his little girl her sister, but has no proof other than a name. Considering there are probably other men with that particular name, why did she focus on him? Instead of just talking to him about it, she snoops and tries to find out info about him. Like that’s going to help anything. That’s underhanded and ridiculous.

Her last boyfriend cheated on her with her mom (Ew). She says she’s trying to mend her broken heart, but is crushing on this boy who has been labeled a player. There’s no reason for her to be crushing, since the only interactions they’ve had is him being nice to her. He doesn’t text her, he goes to a party with another girl, and he keeps her in the friend zone. He can’t date her because of stuff going on, but she sees him out on an intimate date with another girl. They were never a couple, but she’s depressed like they were? Pathetic.

Finished, but sorry I continued on. I have to repeat what I’ve stated in other reviews. I hate cliffhangers! I’m kicking myself that I didn’t think to read the reviews this time. It didn’t state it in the blurb, but I noticed after I rechecked to see if I missed it that the author question/answer said it was a trilogy. I’ve never read those, but I may have to change my mind now.

He gets mad at her and ignores her for weeks, then when she texted him what happened in class he texts back with a joke and a sorry for being an a**. And just like magic his bad behavior is forgiven. wtf? Fairly early I guessed his problem (it was a choice between that and one other). Did he get therapy? Cause if not he’s not someone to get involved with. He says he can’t have anything to do with her til his problem is dealt with, but he’s more than happy and quite willing to go out with other girls? Hmm. He’s either really messed up or a serious player. Later on he mentions the first girl is an old ‘friend’ that was there for him, but he never explained the girl he was having an intimate dinner with.

She was supposedly poor and didn’t have enough money (earlier in the story) to get good ingredients for her cookies, but towards the end she paid for a mani, a pedi, and a haircut? Hmm.

She goes on a tirade to his dad which causes him to miraculously do a turnaround towards him. She’s a miracle worker! That was so unrealistic is was ridiculous.

When he got injured he did all the self destructive things he could think of. He wouldn’t stand up to his dad. He ‘handled’ his problems by running away. This is not a hero.

She knows his secret, and lie to him about how she knew. Let him think she believed in him instead of imagining the worst, which is what she actually did. Meanwhile she is keeping her own secrets. This is not a relationship that will last.

And the piece de resistance, they’ve known each other a short time, (most of which he has spent avoiding her), but they managed to fall in love anyway. None of the interactions they did have were ones that would lead to that, so who knows where it came from. Magic again I guess. I don’t know if all of this author’s books are as bad as this one, but I’m not willing to find out.
