Collision Point A Brute Force Novel Lora Leigh 9781250110329 Books
I am an avid fan of Lora Leigh....but that's changing. This book has the feel of several others that were written under her name, but don't have the flow and depth of characters as books undoubtedly written by Lora Leigh. The story line seemed pieced together with no real detail given to important points, such as how Amara and Riordan fell in love or how she was actually abducted. More detail was given to the sex scenes which always seem to come at extreme emotional moments when one would expect the characters to make emotional connections (which makes me question if the author is actually male). I love erotica, but found myself irritated when sex scenes appeared when Amara was very angry or confused. The arrogance and aggression of Riordan towards Amara was off putting, because there had been no development of a romantic relationship. Everything out of his mouth was about sex. I struggle to justify a three star rating. This is the third or fourth (and last) time I've bought a book that didn't feel was actually written by the author. I'm done and won't waste my money on anymore of her books. True Lora Leigh fans know her writing style. This ain't it.Tags : Collision Point: A Brute Force Novel [Lora Leigh] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. <b> From #1 bestselling author Lora Leigh comes </i>Collision Point, part of the thrilling Brute Force series―packed with powerful men,Lora Leigh,Collision Point: A Brute Force Novel,St. Martin's Paperbacks,1250110327,Romance - Contemporary,Romance - Military,Romance - Suspense,Bodyguards,Criminals;Fiction.,Love stories.,Man-woman relationships,Organized crime,Romance fiction,070101 St Martins Mass Market,AMERICAN LIGHT ROMANTIC FICTION,FICTION Romance Contemporary,FICTION Romance Military,FICTION Romance Suspense,Fiction,Fiction-War & Military,FictionRomance - Contemporary,FictionRomance - Suspense,General Adult,MASS MARKET,Monograph Series, any,Romance Contemporary,Romance Suspense,RomanceGeneral,United States, military romance; military romance books; military romance novels; solider romance; amputee romance; seal romance; navy seal romance; special ops romance; secret agent romance; romantic suspense; romantic suspense books; suspense romance; romance suspense; romance suspense novels, romantic suspense books; military romance; military romance books; military romance novels; solider romance; amputee romance; seal romance; navy seal romance; special ops romance; secret agent romance; romantic suspense; suspense romance; romance suspense; romance suspense novels,FICTION Romance Contemporary,FICTION Romance Military,FICTION Romance Suspense,FictionRomance - Contemporary,FictionRomance - Suspense,Romance Contemporary,Romance Suspense,American Light Romantic Fiction,Fiction
Collision Point A Brute Force Novel Lora Leigh 9781250110329 Books Reviews
This is a great beginning to the Brute Force series by new-to-me author Lora Leigh with a gripping, fast-paced plot that had my heart pounding as I was turning the pages faster than ever to see what was going to happen.
I loved the sizzling chemistry and panty-melting romance between Elite Ops agent Riordan Malone and Amara Resnova, daughter of a Russian crime lord.
Collision Point should be read by anyone who enjoys steamy, action-packed romantic suspense. I received a free advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my unbiased review. I liked the book so much, I purchased a copy to read again later.
Collision Point is book 1 of a new series, Brute Force by Lora Leigh. This is the story of Riordan “Rory” Malone and Amara Resnova. I have been dying to read Rory Malone’s story for years and when I heard Ms. Leigh was writing it, I did my happy dance. In reading this book, she outdid herself for the story is full of action, intrigue, betrayal, angst, heartbreak, passion, desire and undying love.
Amara has lost a year of her life due to memory loss. It is known by her that she was abducted horribly beaten but saved by Rory and his team. Then as Rory and his team were recusing her, the unthinkable happens.. fast forward six months and she is dealing with the memory loss which happened the night of her kidnapping and beating. Amara is not dealing well with her loss of memory and on top of it, someone is trying to kill her. What she remembers are in her dreams of her being in danger and Rory protecting her. So she goes to find Rory who she thinks she can trust. Rory works for Brute Force Protection Agency and he , once upon a time, was Amara’s bodyguard. He also was for a brief period her lover and they had a secret relationship going. But after the tragic incident happened, she hasn’t seen Rory since. Now she is back to see Rory because she is searching for answers months after everything happened. Will Rory want to help her ? All these questions plus more will be answered when you read this sizzling, steamy, romance read by the Queen of Romance Lora Leigh.
My Rating 4.8 stars *****
“I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
I received this book for free from Netgalley in order to prepare an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.FINAL DECISION The suspense and mystery really worked for most of the story, but the solution was a bit of a disappointment. I also wanted the connection between Amara and Riordan to be stronger but since they had a past, their relationship did not feel as immediate.
THE STORY Amara Resnova has been having dreams and nightmares. Six months ago she was kidnapped by enemies of her father but she cannot remember anything that happened in the last year. But she dreams about Riordan Malone and knows that he was her bodyguard and her lover. Now fearing that someone is trying to kill her again, Amara turns to Riordan for help.
OPINION This was a decent book that had the possibility to be much more. I really enjoyed the suspense in the story as Amara doesn't remember what has happened and she has much of the solution in her mind.
For about eighty-five percent of the story, I really was engaged in the suspense of the story, but the resolution disappointed me because there was no way to guess what had happened. While the resolution made sense and was in keeping with the rest of the story, I had thought there would be something more interesting or dramatic to explain Amara's abduction.
While I am perfectly willing to accept a less exciting personal story with a great suspense story, my disappointment with the suspense story also reflected a romance that was okay but not fantastic. The story had plenty of sex scenes, but lacked some of the excitement between Amara and Riordan. While I thought that everything was worked up well for most of the book, the ending was merely okay.
I would read the next book in the series because this book was okay even if it wasn't superlative.
WORTH MENTIONING Nathan Malone from WILD CARD makes a significant appearance here.
CONNECTED BOOKS COLLISION POINT is the first book in the Brute Force series. This series is a spin-off from Leigh's Elite Ops series and there are overlapping characters.
STAR RATING I give this book 3 stars.
NOTE I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley in order to prepare this review. I was not required to write a review or to write a positive review. All opinions contained herein are my own.
