4-4.5 stars. Depending on one's view of When It Rains will likely determine how this story is perceived. Really, it's the epilogue of When It Rains expanded in detail and more. Personally, I enjoyed it because I needed more of this and there wasn't much of it in the previous book. As for my one particular hang up with When It Rains, regarding Kate's ultimate choice, I think she addresses this sufficiently in After the Rain to where I'm content with the overall story and ending, because it's the ending that was meant to be, but took a detour to get there. Also, I had wondered if her past tragedy would ever be confronted again because I felt that she needed some form of justice or affirmation on her behalf and yes, there is a little something regarding that in this book, thankfully. Aside from the first hand glimpse of romantic relationship between Kate and her man, this also sets up the stage for introducing the other characters in this series. As for Kate herself, this is the true Kate who is living her life and enjoying it without being held back by fear because she's surrounded by love.Tags : After the Rain (Rains Series) - Kindle edition by Lisa De Jong, Madison Seidler. After the Rain Rains Series edition by Lisa De Jong Madison Seidler Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I wish this book could have been condensed into an Epilogue to be placed after "When It Rains"!!!!
The first book was phenomenal and that because of Asher.
I love him.
Beau is. a sweet guy.
That's the problem.
There is no spark with this character.
It was just one big, boring love fest.
This was a nice dip back into Beau & Kate's life.
I especially loved Beau's POV when Kate arrives to surprise him that day.
I guess this could be considered an extended epilogue for When It Rains and I really loved being able to get more from this couple.
This is another wonderful addition to the Rain Series by Lisa De Jong. We get to see what happens in backdrop of the novella After the Rain. Emery and Drake seem like completely different people that really have nothing in common but they are so much more than mere appearances. Emery grew up in a small town with her father and she felt driven to get out of that life by studying hard and being somewhat standoffish so no one would stand in her path of getting to where she thought she should be. When she was 4 years old, her mother left her and her father to go seek her dreams. Drake is The Quarterback, he's got tons of pressure on his shoulders. His father died when he was about 11 years old and his father always pushed and wanted Drake to play football. So now he just continues doing that for his father but not really for himself. He's got a mother and 2 little sisters but his mother checked out after their father died and Drake had to pick up the pieces and be the parent and provider in alot of the ways. He keeps himself on track but he doesn't let alot of people in especially girls because they would just be a distraction. From the very beginning, he is interested in Emery but he keeps pushing her away because she would be a big distraction and she deserves better than him.
This book is about how we might make plans for what we want for our futures but it doesn't mean that is how things are going to turn out. Sometimes there are better things in our future that we didn't know were what we really needed. Some of the best things in life are not planned. Drake is a messed up man that has guilt and thinks he's supposed to fufill his father's dreams since his father isn't around to do it. But underneath all that, he is a really good man who has had to deal with alot of bad things in his life. Emery wasn't dealt a great hand either but she's trying to succeed but she's missing the good parts of life. I really enjoyed these two characters together because they really are wonderful together.
This book is so worth reading and I'm looking forward to the next book which is Rachel's story.
I was so disappointed with this book. I loved When It Rains, it was full of emotion, loved the characters, how they interacted with each other. You felt what they were going through. It was an amazing story so I anticipated that this would continue in that direction. It fell flat. It started going into other characters but never really gave us much information. It actually dragged on for me. Seriously if you cut out all the sex scenes you could have had an epilogue instead of a novella. Unfortunately the sex scenes were just boring and repetitive, almost like she had to come up with so many pages and didn't have anything else to add to the characters. So disappointed, don't waste your money or your time.
Unlike the first book in the series "When it Rains", which is one of the best books I have read this year (and in general), THIS BOOK IS ONE BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.
After reading other readers reviews on this book, I had high expectaions from it. But unfortunatly I really do not get what the fuss was about. there is nothing good in this book. I skipped many pages and just waited to get over with it. I finished it in hope for some surprise - but nothing.
In order to leave the good taste of the first book, I wish I had not read this book.
